Student of the Year 2005
Shridat Jadoo
The Board of Directors of the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year
Foundation and the Nassau, Bahamas Pan-Hellenic Council, along with the
Distinguished Panel of Judges are please to recognized Shridat Jadoo, a sixth
grade student at Maurice Moore Primary School – Grand Bahama, as the 2005
Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year. Shridat has been described as
quite the gentleman, meek in spirit and trustworthy.
The Judging Panel felt that Shridat demonstrated his commitment to academic
excellence, leadership development and community service. He is naturally
gifted and talented, maintaining a 3.98 Grade Point Average. He compliment's
his academic achievements by his outstanding commitment to maintaining a well
balanced school life. He is a member of the Junior Red Cross Club, the Boys
Club, the School Newspaper, the Bible Club, the Swimming Club and the Soccer
Team. In addition, he was part of his school’s Junior Junkanoo Team and the
Music Recorder Group for the 2004 National Arts Festival.
His report cards and countless certificates clearly indicate that he is focused and
has a passion for excellence. Mrs. Shelia Scavella, Principal of the Maurice
Moore Primary School in assessing Shridat noted that “His brilliance radiates
from his walk, talk and smile. His positive attributes such as politeness, respect,
helpfulness, neatness, leadership and superiority in completion of class
assignments solidifies his quest for distinction”.
This selfless student also has a keen interest in helping his fellow students to
succeed. He offers peer tutoring during snack and lunch breaks to assist
students who are struggling. This alone proves that he is a student who wants to
see all shine and have their moment in the spotlight. Shridat said that God is
very important in his life and is active with the Junior Sunday School at St. Paul’s
Methodist Church.
The son of Tilcok and Deowattie Jadoo, our Student of the Year is a positive role
model for all students and in his community. We are confident that Shridat is
truly worthy of this high honour of being selected as the 2005 Bahamas Primary
School Student of the Year.
