As Minister responsible for the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, I congratulate all of the students, throughout The Bahamas, who are being recognized and awarded through The Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Awards Program, for their outstanding academic achievements and extra curricular involvement.
It is pleasing to note that young people are in fact, taking education seriously; as evidenced by the many students that are being recognized. To the recipients, this is the first of many academic excellence awards to be achieved if you remain focused on your educational goals. I would like to encourage you to continue to do your best as we can all see that hard work has its own rewards.
I must commend also the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year

Foundation and its partners for its continued effort in not only recognizing the scholastic achievements of our primary school students, but also for taking the initiative of rewarding them through the disbursement of educational scholarships, to assist with the students’ continued educational development.

Special thanks to the teachers who have played a pivotal role in the students’ accomplishments and sharpening of their minds. To the parents, I applaud you for the support and commitment needed to encourage your children to do their best. The evidence is clear that students do their best when teachers and parents work together.
To all of the nominees and winners, I implore you to study hard, give your best effort and continue to strive for academic excellence as you are indeed the future of The Bahamas.
