2003 Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year
TANIELLE CURTIS

The Nassau, Bahamas Pan-Hellenic Council along with the panel of distinguished judges are please to recognize Tanielle Waynette Michelle Curtis, an eleven year old student at St. Francis & St. Joseph Catholic Primary School as the 2003 Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year.  She has been described as a pleasant, courteous, industrious and intelligent student, who is well-liked by her peers and her teachers.

The Judges felt that Tanielle possessed the academic qualification and has demonstrated her commitment to excellence in the area of community service, leadership and personal development.  This sixth grade student, who has maintained an honour roll status throughout her primary school years, has balanced her academics with outstanding extra-curricular achievements.

Her report card clearly indicates that she is focused and committed to her work.  She has earned certificates of achievement in Computer, Mathematics, Health, Social Studies, Science, Reading, Language Arts, Spanish, Religion, Art, Music, Creative Writing, Conduct and Physical Education.  She earned the distinction of ranking 1st in her class for the past five semesters.

On campus, she is a member of the dance club, a cheerleader, Gifted and Talented Club Member, Recorder Ensemble, Travel Club Member and Cooking Club Member.  In addition, she serves as a school prefect.  She has represented her school in the Diocesan Spelling Contest for Catholic Primary Schools and the National Arts Festival.

Even at her young age, Tanielle has proven to be a trustworthy and responsible individual who can be counted on to do her best.  She has always shown initiative and tries to help others in any way she can.  She is an active member of United Faith Ministries International, where she is an integral part of the church’s dance group, praise choir and children’s church.

Senior Pastor Phalmon Ferguson has described Tanielle as “a hardworking and focused individual who pushes herself the extra mile to achieve perfection” Miss Carol Anne Taylor, Tanielle’s Classroom Teacher notes that “she exemplifies the ideals of the school and is a role model for her class and school mates alike”.

The daughter of Buford and Shelley Curtis, Tanielle Curtis is the 2003 Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year.
