Lauren Scriven

The Board of Directors of the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation and the Nassau, Bahamas Pan-Hellenic Council, in conjunction with the Distinguished Panel of
Judges are pleased to announce that a clever, reliable, enthusiastic, articulate, intelligent,
committed, creative, witty and goal oriented student, was selected as the 2019 Bahamas
Primary School Student of the Year. Lauren Scriven, a twelve-year student at St. Francis de
Sales Catholic Primary School in Abaco has been selected for the top honour from among the
123 nominees in this year’s Awards Ceremony. Lauren has maintained Principal List status since
arriving at her school and maintains an accumulative grade point average of 3.90.

Extracurricular activities have always been an integral ingredient in Lauren’s holistic
development and formation. She is a member of the school’s Spelling Club, Kindness Patrol, Craft Club, Dance Club and The Recorder Club. She is an active participant in the Zion Baptist Cathedral, Abaco, Praise Dance Ministry, Children’s Choir, Media Ministry and Sunday School Ministry.

As a humanitarian, Lauren spearheads a campaign called Random Acts of Kindness. She sold Breast Cancer Pins where proceeds were donated to the Cancer Society of The Bahamas.

She also sponsored an initiative to support her local animal shelter, to assist dogs in need.
She is a member of The Commonwealth Writers of The Bahamas Association. In 2016, she
placed first in their Annual Short Story / Poetry Competition. Lauren made waves when her
love of writing catapulted her to become a published author at age 11. In her book, “The
Adventures of Laura Stuart Before My Time”, Lauren shared the exciting experience of two
young girls who travelled back to 1492.

Lauren is the daughter of Tony and Lachrisser Scriven and becomes the first student from St.
Francis de Sales Catholic School to capture the Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year
Title.
